Education and fun at the Skin Authority skin care event

The Skin Authority skin care event was held May 24th at Naimie’s Beauty Center. Starting with 1 hour workshops from noon to 5pm and then at 6:30 there was a cocktail party celebrating the launch of Skin Authority in Naimie’s.

L to R: Me, Celeste Hilling, my mom Maat Manyatta and Nazeli Pogosyan talked skin care for every age.

The 1 hour workshops
I attended the noon workshop with my dear mom, who is in town visiting from KC, Missouri.  We got a chance to meet Celeste Hilling, CEO and founder of Skin Authority. Celeste taught the skin care workshops and spoke about the history of skin care during the last three decades and how modern science has changed the way we care for our skin. The old ways of cleanse, tone and moisturize are gone. We are past trying to plump the dead, dry, top layers of skin and now we know the importance of exfoliation, regeneration and protection.

Celeste Hilling is not only knowledgeable about skin and her line in general. She also made everyone feel important and she was genuinely interested in speaking to everyone, regardless of whether they purchased her product.

High points of the event

  • Free gift of  a full sized Reviving Eye Brightener (a $70 value…. SCORE!)
  • Free professional facial (a $120+ value… SCORE x2!)
  • Having Celeste Hilling tell me what order to use my Skin Authority products (so cool!)
  • 40% off the Skin Authority skin care kits (you don’t see this everyday)
  • Free wine and hors d’oeuvres (I ❤ wine & cheese)
  • Networking with other makeup artists (I made a few work connections)

The biggest take-away for me was that I learned more about skin care, not just why I should buy Skin Authority products.

My good friend & MUA Cara Liedlich was the only one brave enough to let me take a picture of her during the facials. Cara described the facial as “Amazing”

Wine and Cheese
The cocktail after hours event was fun as well. Who wouldn’t want to shop their favorite makeup and skincare brands while chatting and sipping wine? And of course, there were the facials, the FREE FACIALS! Both my mom and I had the pleasure of enjoying our first professional facial. I think the best word to describe it is… prickly. It felt very prickly because of the 35% Glycolic acid. And while it took some getting used to, the final results were worth it. My skin felt soft, supple and even a friend noticed the difference as soon as she saw me. Celeste suggested that the proper skin care regimen helps to maintain the boost your skin gets after receiving a facial. Which is why I will continue to use the Skin Authority products.
