Monsters in the Movies: 100 Years of Cinematic Nightmares

New book I am putting on my wish list.
Monsters in the Movies: 100 Years of Cinematic Nightmares,
by John Landis
Who is John Landis?
Check out this link from John Landis, which has plethera of info on him.  In short, he is a director/actor/author. His most noteable work that I can think of are the movies “Animal House”, “An American Werewolf in London” and even Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video.  He has made some hits and some flops, but haven’t we all?

What’s the book about?
A fun filled romp through the world of, well… monsters in movies, examinining the various types of monsters throughout movie history.

Why am I interested in the book?
Besides that fact that it’s just plain cool! As a makeup artist, it is a great book of reference pictures and fun history of a wide range of movie monsters, some good, some bad, some very, very ugly. AND behind every great movie monster is a great makeup artist.  Even if you are not a makeup artist, if you love movies, you will enjoy this book.  I flipped through the books pages at the store and instantly fell in love. Although the price tag is keeping us apart for now. I might see if I can find it for less on Amazon. Or maybe it will find it’s way under my Christmas tree? Stranger things have happened.

Please feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think. If you have a makeup or special fx website, I would love to hear about it.
